when i go to the porsche dealership i get in a GT3 911
then i go to chrysler and i cant even get close to a Viper
i got closer to Ferrari's 2012 Formula 1 car that was in the mall 3 months ago

The dealer might attract a different demographic of people, who aren't enthusiasts.

When the 5th gen camaro came out, the dealer I went to had their V6 model roped off
Its to keep loose kids from "exploring" the car. You don't really find little kids running around exotic dealerships

Smother my ass off a 350k Ferrari? Sure, no problem.
Ask to be let in a 60k BMW? Lets wait for a salesman to come and open it up for you.
Like..no. Just no. Unacceptable.

I once went into a Porsche dealership as a kid. I must have sat in every Porsche there 10x so I can understand why someone would rope off a car.

the dealership is for people to search the car, its not a museum

Every winter I go to the local new car show and the Corvette is always locked so you can't sit in it, but the $100k+ Porsches are wide open. It's like to domestic dealers the Vette and Viper are unbelievably expensive and special but to a Porsche dealer it's no big thing.

In Miami, I test drove a Carrera S, XK and even a Mulsanne no questions asked.
Here in Puerto Rico, I asked for a test drive in an FR-S and was told I needed to prequalify for financing before I could take the car out.

customers, not let their brats run around and finger things up, break things, and spill food all over. Keep in mind, people DO buy showroom model vehicles, we bought 3 of em in fact.

the car could be locked and your problem's solved. i can understand a roped ferrari, not a viper

I've had a better experience in a BMW dealership. Although that could be because our friend was an intern there, but whether or not the people working in sales knew that, we were allowed to sit in any of the cars on the floor, which did include a M3 sedan and a 6-Series convertible.

well its not a supermarket, theres no reason why a car would get scratched, the 911 aren't scratched.

Yeah I guess so. I honestly can't offer a defense other than "it might get damaged" which it probably won't. Unless a serious douche comes in.

yes, on the bmw dealership ive been in an m3 and the 1M.
so that i cant get close to a dodge "srt" is like an insult

Dealers already abuse paint so bad that it is a non-issue.

I don't know about other dealers, but the Toyota one, puts the car through a carwash. Ew.

well all cars could get damaged, the thing is you go to bmw and get in an M3 no questions asked, and you cant even get close to a Dodge or "SRT" as they fancy call the viper

I actually had to hold my breath and not say "Umm...excuse me? I've been around in Ferraris on my own. Your puny little 4 series is a piss in the pond compared to that"
Because I was pissed. It is a dealership. People like touching, sitting, getting a feel; most of the time they like doing so without some 18 year old salesman breathing down their neck.
Its brilliant, I don't waste salesmen's time that way because I'm not engaging them (who buys the first time out anyways?) and they are free to help those that actually need it. If a salesman wants to waste time on someone who isn't buying and more importantly doesn't need their "Expert Advice", their funeral I guess.
I only need to talk to two people, sales manager to put in the order if its BTO and the finance man for the money. Everyone else is useless for me.

Because broke people don't shop for Porsches. But they do shop for Hyundai's and it looks like that dealer ship also sells those. Its a rope to keep the underprivileged away.

It's probably like the Stratocaster from Wayne's World.
On another note, I've always wondered how they get cars into malls. Is it simply driving it inside? Is it just a display?

And they wonder why nobody's buying them...

well that's not right. when i visit the porsche's they see a 21 yr old and they know im just there to see the car, and that im not going to buy anything. But the employees come and offer me a drink and ask me if i want to know anything about the car.
about the hyundai you see on the picture... that car is total shit, i dont know why, but it has a cable clutch and a cable gas pedal.
